My entrepreneurship story

My first exposure to entrepreneurship was for an audition at my middle school (BAK Middle School of the Arts). We were prompted to create any imaginary product and an advertisement for it. I created "Dragon Breath Mouth Wash for Dogs" because my dog always had bad breath. It was a really fun project because I was able to create the bottle out of an old spray bottle and used clay to create a dragon head on top. This project made me think about a problem that I noticed and a way to come up with a solution. After I created the actual product, the next step was to create an ad for it. I created a single print ad for it by taking a picture of my dog in a dragon costume and photoshopping him next to the mouth wash bottle. Overall, this was a great experience for me.

I enrolled in this class (ENT3003) because I believe that learning entrepreneurship is a concept that everyone should understand. My parents were entrepreneurs too. I am excited to learn new skills, ways to think about the world, and most importantly, ways to solve some of the world's biggest problems. I am hoping to also gain a different perspective on the business world.

Here is a picture of my dog, Bentley, who inspired "Dragon Breath Mouth Wash for Dogs".

  1. Hey Elizabeth, I really enjoyed your post. I can completely relate to having a dog with bad breath, so that product would fill a need for me! Additionally, I have the exact same reason why I decided to join this class: trying to solve problems in our world today. Because I hope to have a career that accomplishes this, I think this class is a great way to prime myself to think about the world from a different perspective. Thanks for the post!

  3. Hello,
I had an experience pretty similar to yours. I was also told to create a product and an advertisement. This project was a lot harder than I thought it was going to be. I did not realize so much went into trying to come up with a product. Something so important is just trying to determine who has the problem and if the person actually needs it solved.

  4. Hey Elizabeth, great post! My dog growing up also had extremely bad breath and could have benefited from the product that you put together. The part of your post that I found most intriguing was how you ran into a problem and then had to create a solution. The beautiful thing about entrepreneurship is everyone of us sees the world in a different way and each one of us could create our own solution. There is never any one solution and I am also excited to continue with this course and to see what we can learn about the world and entrepreneurship!
